Mind Over Slammer: Birmingham Heat

All slam participants and audience members must be 18 or over due to licensing rules in venues.
 
Deadline for slam applications: Saturday 2nd December 2023 @ 10am
 
Names will be drawn at random and successful applicants will be contacted via email on Saturday 2nd December, by 10pm
 
We appreciate that competition of any kind, or the discussion of potentially sensitive topics at events, may trigger anxiety or other pre-existing mental health concerns. As a result of this, following each slam, we are offering participants an optional, free 45 minute online aftercare session with our resident BACP-accredited psychotherapist Anna Sinski. Anna will also be available at each slam should participants require any care.

Headliner: TrueMendous

“One to watch out for” – Akil The Mc from Hip-Hop’s legendary Jurassic 5.

TrueMendous has demonstrated why she’s arguably one of the best upcoming artists in the UK.

The infamous lyricist delivered the opening track for the Women’s FA Cup final at Wembley stadium which aired on BBC 1 during peak daytime tv. The game was attended by the world record breaking audience of 77,390 people for women’s football.

She secured a mind blowing 11 festival slots throughout the summer of 2019 including: Glastonbury, Leeds and Reading where she opened up the BBC 1xtra stage. TrueMendous was also one of the leading artists on the ‘Queens of Art’ tour which was the first ever UK all female hip hop tour across 8 cities. The tour was later covered by the BBC.
